The Annual 2025 Graduate Exhibition
This project was submitted as a competition entry to design the visual identity for The Annual 2025 Graduate Exhibition at UNSW Art & Design. The work demonstrates my ability as a designer to deliver a conceptual and aligned response to a brief that called for a logo and potential brand identity direction that was innovative, original and captured the creative spirit of the campus.
Working collaboratively with Angela Nguyen, another emerging graphics/interaction designer, we designed the following identity, which incorporates astral symbolism to honour and showcase the brilliance, imagination, and boundless creative potential of the graduating class. Inspired by the phenomena of the Big Bang, the design speaks to the idea of students as stars emerging from a singularity and a shared point of origin, to soar ahead and forge their own brilliant paths.
At the heart of the logo lies a dynamic interplay between the negative space of the letterforms, where the typography becomes unified with the celestial motif of a shooting star. The “tail” of the star both denotes the structure of the letter “A” but also suggests momentum and ambition, visually alluding to the students as trailblazers and visionaries. The ethereal celestial figures, crafted in Blender, reference the collective spirit and creative community that define the student experience at UNSW Art & Design. Together, this bold and futuristic visual identity becomes a celebration of both the students’ achievements and their infinite potential.
